Begin your adventure with a drive to the start of your hike, taking in breathtaking views along the way. Arrive at the trailhead and set off on a gentle hike through a towering beech forest. As you climb towards the tree line, keep an eye out for diverse birdlife, including Kea, Weka, Bellbirds, the tiny Rifleman, Tomtit, and the fearless Bush Robin.

Midway up, the forest changes dramatically as you cross a mineral belt, entering a landscape dominated by dragon trees and mountain neinei. The beech trees here resemble bonsai, creating a surreal atmosphere.

Emerge above the beech forest to reach giant granite slabs offering spectacular 360-degree views and an abundance of alpine plants. Take a break for lunch in this stunning setting. After lunch, enjoy a relaxed return walk, soaking in the natural beauty of Kahurangi National Park.
