The tour combines culture, history and nature in the so-called “capital of the Magdalena River” and “bamboo capital of America”.
We will start the tour departing from the viewpoint the Mohán “the guardian of the Magdalena River”, the iconic monument of the Mohán, with its 360° viewpoint of Neiva, where you will enjoy the panoramic view of the urban and natural part of the city, the tour is 17 km aboard our vehicle through the emblematic sites of the city, such as: Parque Andino (declared Historical and Architectural Heritage of the Nation), Railway Station, Colombian horse, You will carry me in you, La Lavandera, Los Guaduales, Children's Park.
You will walk along the river boardwalk, visiting the monument of the snail, musical stave, the mythological path: a space dedicated to the myths of Huila, such as the candileja, the goblin, the mohán, the golden tunjo, the madremonte, the patasola, the poira and the bad chicken.
Another of Neiva's iconic monuments is La Gaitana, which recreates the leadership of the indigenous Huilense woman in defence of the land and family honour, as well as the resistance of the natives against the spoils of the conquest; delight your palate with opitas snacks such as achira sponge cake, cuca and condor soft drink, unique flavours that tell the history of the region.
The adventure does not end on land, we head to the pier of La Gaitana, where our crew will give the relevant recommendations and deliver the life jacket to board the boat, the nautical tour that will be done is “Puerto Angel” a contemplative and interpretive walk for about 20 minutes, perfect for photographing birds such as osprey, kingfisher, cormorant, among others.
After our relaxing traditional canoe ride, we will board the vehicle to continue the tour, passing by the port of the Ladies, mother earth monument, Inés García de Duran avenue, where you will appreciate the eight sculptures representing the steps of our san juanero huilense, traditional dance of the department of Huila.
We continue the tour visiting the dome of the antipodes and other sites of the sculptural complex “Ciudad Villamil”: south, red moon 1, civic square of the liberators (former central supply of the city), monument the barcino, Santander Park, cathedral of the immaculate conception, colonial temple, offices of the governor of Huila, monument foals, convention centre José Eustasio Rivera (Within the convention centre we can find 3 museums: Jorge Villamil, regional archaeological museum and the museum of huilensidad, their days of attention are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, they do not work on Saturdays and Sundays), we continue the tour to the Intihuantana monument and Red Moon 2.
After four hours of learning about the opita culture, we will return to the same starting point.
