What you can expect

Get ready for an unforgettable, authentic Kenyan cooking adventure! This is not your typical tourist experience—prepare to immerse yourself in local culture and discover the secrets of Kenyan cuisine that you won’t find in any hotel or guidebook.

Step 1: Visit a Local Market
The journey begins with a trip to my local market where the real magic of Kenyan cooking starts. As we stroll through the market, you’ll be surrounded by fresh produce, aromatic spices, and exotic ingredients that are the heart of Kenyan cooking. You’ll learn how to choose the best ingredients, from ripe tomatoes and greens to the perfect spices and herbs that give Kenyan dishes their distinct flavours. I'll take photos and videos to capture your experience and you’ll have fun posing with your market finds.

Step 2: Cooking at My Home
Once we’ve gathered all the ingredients, we’ll head to my home. Here’s where the fun begins: together, we’ll prepare traditional Kenyan dishes—from the famous ugali (cornmeal porridge) to matoke (green bananas) and sukuma (collard greens). I’ll guide you every step of the way, teaching you unique techniques and sharing my years of experience as a passionate home cook. I’ll also capture some behind-the-scenes moments of you cooking in the kitchen, making sure you have a memory of your hands-on experience preparing your own authentic Kenyan meal.

This is more than just a cooking class—it's an opportunity to connect with local Kenyan culture in a way no guidebook can offer. I’ll explain the history and significance of each dish, and you’ll learn how these meals are enjoyed during celebrations, family gatherings, and daily life in Kenya.

Step 3: Share the Meal and Stories
Once our feast is ready, we’ll sit down together and enjoy the fruits of our labour! While savouring your home-cooked Kenyan meal, I’ll share fascinating stories about Kenyan culture, traditions, and the diverse communities that make up this incredible country. It’s not just about the food; it’s about connecting with the heart of Kenya.

Why This Is Different:
This experience isn’t just a class; it’s a deep dive into Kenyan food culture that you can’t get at a hotel or touristic restaurant. You won’t just be following a recipe; you’ll be part of the process, learning through hands-on experience in a real Kenyan home. The market tour, cooking, and sharing a meal together gives you an authentic, personal, and memorable glimpse into local life. Plus, with all the photos and videos, you’ll have professional memories to share and treasure forever.
