What you can expect

  • At the Leezodrom, you are not just a spectator: you become part of the storey yourself:

Three experience rooms – one journey through time

Your experience at the Leezodrom combines three narrative spaces into a continuous immersive journey through the past, present, and future of Münster.

It starts with an atmospheric film that choices you up in the here and now. It shows central places, themes and perspectives of the city of Münster: urban society, architecture, mobility and urban life. You get a feel for the city's identity and the issues that affect it today.

Afterwards, you will immerse yourself in an exhibition that takes you through five selected epochs in the city's history. Here you will encounter fictional characters who are representative of their respective periods. You will get to know the realities of their lives, learn about their challenges, hopes and perspectives – and later meet them again on the virtual ride.

Finally, the highlight is the VR bike tour: an immersive journey through the history of Münster, accompanied by individual voices from five eras. Starting from the Leezodrom on Syndikatplatz, you will cross digitally reconstructed streets, immerse yourself in historical atmospheres, and experience the city as intensely as if you were there yourself.

    Five eras – five perspectives

    1895 – Old Münster
You ride through imperial German Münster at the end of the 19th century. At your side is a janitor who is proudly cycling through the city on his new penny-farthing. The bicycle represents technical progress, status, and new possibilities – and you experience a city in transition between tradition and modernity.

1925 – City in a state of upheaval
In the Roaring Twenties, you move through a city full of optimism. An independent young woman accompanies you and uses the bicycle as a symbol of emancipation. You experience the Weimar Republic from a new, self-confident perspective – shaped by freedom, change, and social upheaval.

    1945 – City in ruins
After World War II, large parts of Münster are destroyed. A survivor guides you through post-war Münster and tells you about loss, hope, and new beginnings. During this time, the bicycle becomes an indispensable means of survival – practical, quiet, and usable anywhere.

    1968 – A city for the car?
You experience Münster in a time of change. A young person on their Bonanza bike moves between traffic chaos, growing car traffic, and new social conflicts. The question is: Who does the city belong to – the car or the people?

    2045 – A look into the future
At the end of the tour, you'll take a look ahead. What could Münster look like in 2045? What visions of mobility, urban design, and urban life could become reality? The future is open – and you are invited to help shape it.
