Since 1977, the Skulptur Projekte have been held in Münster every ten years. During this time, public spaces are transformed into exhibition areas for a whole summer.
Join us on a Skulptur Projekte guided tour and explore numerous works from past exhibitions that can still be found in the cityscape today!
The world-renowned Skulptur Projekte exhibition series invites artists from around the world to develop an artistic project at a location of their choice within the city, engaging with the public and public space. In doing so, the question of the “relationship between art, public space and the urban environment” is posed. Perceived as a provocation in 1977, this exhibition format has since become one of the most important international events for contemporary art in public space.
Many of the works from the past five exhibitions remained in the urban space after the 100-day exhibition period and have become a permanent feature of the cityscape.
For visitors, the concept of the Skulptur Projekte combines exploring the city of Münster with art. On the Skulptur Projekte tour, in addition to a unique art experience and the opportunity to discuss the artworks, you will also get to enjoy the most beautiful sights and hidden corners of the lovely city of Münster.
In the summer of 2027, the Skulptur Projekte will be held in Münster for the sixth time. For over 100 days, the exhibition will once again transform the city and the region, allowing visitors to experience groundbreaking contemporary art.
