Our spiritual journey begins at the historic Cetinje Monastery, one of the most important religious and cultural centers in Montenegro. For centuries, this monastery represented the epicentre of literacy, education, and national identity. Although it was demolished and rebuilt several times — including after the invasion of Suleiman Pasha — it remains a powerful symbol of resilience and faith.
Within its modest chambers are preserved some of the most revered Christian relics: fragments of the Holy Cross, the hand of Saint John the Baptist, and the relics of Saint Peter of Cetinje. These sacred treasures make Cetinje Monastery one of the most spiritually significant sites in the Christian world.
We then continue towards Dajbabe Monastery, located beneath Dajbaba Hill near Podgorica. Built in 1897 following a miraculous vision experienced by shepherd Petko, this monastery is dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. What makes Dajbabe truly unique is that it is carved directly into the rock. Originally formed from a cave, it was gradually expanded into a cross-shaped church. Only the entrance porch and bell towers stand outside the rock, while the sacred interior remains embraced by nature. Inside are preserved the relics of Saint Simeon of Dajbabe — a place where harmony between nature and faith is deeply felt.
For the grand finale, we visit the magnificent Ostrog Monastery, the most visited pilgrimage site in Montenegro. Dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog, whose relics are preserved here, this monastery is carved dramatically into a vertical cliff at 900 metres above sea level. It is believed that the saint’s body was found incorrupt seven years after his death. Known for miracles and spiritual healing, Ostrog attracts pilgrims from all over the world, regardless of faith. The atmosphere here is both powerful and peaceful — a place of deep reflection.
After the visit, we head to the traditional Koliba restaurant for lunch, where you will enjoy authentic Montenegrin cuisine. On the return journey, we make a scenic photo stop overlooking the sea before heading back.
This tour is not just a visit to monasteries — it is a journey through Montenegro’s spiritual heart, history, and living faith.
