What you can expect

  • Ancient Wonders & Wild Giants: Polonnaruwa & Minneriya Private Day Tour
Experience the soul of Sri Lanka in a single, action-packed day. This tour bridges the gap between the architectural brilliance of a 10th-century kingdom and the raw power of the wild.

Step Back 1,000 Years: Wander (or cycle) through the UNESCO-listed ruins of Polonnaruwa, from the towering Royal Palace to the hauntingly beautiful rock-cut Buddhas of Gal Vihara.

Witness “The Great Elephant Gathering”: Embark on a private 4x4 safari in Minneriya National Park, home to one of the largest seasonal congregations of wild Asian elephants on Earth.

Tailored for You: Enjoy the flexibility of a private tour with door-to-door transport from Dambulla, Sigiriya, Kandalama, or Habarana.

07.30 AM, 08.00 AM, 08:30 AM | Historic Morning in Polonnaruwa Start your day with a comfortable hotel pickup. Upon reaching the ancient capital of Polonnaruwa, you’ll explore the “Garden City.” Discover the intricate Vatadage, the massive Rankot Vihara stupa, and the ancient irrigation systems that still baffle modern engineers.

We recommend exploring by bicycle for the most immersive experience!

12:30 PM | Local Flavours & Relaxation Pause for a traditional Sri Lankan lunch at a hand-picked local restaurant (at your own expense). Taste authentic “Rice and Curry” before the landscape shifts from stone ruins to lush jungle.

02:30 PM | Afternoon Elephant Safari As the sun begins to dip, head into Minneriya National Park. In your private 4x4 jeep, navigate through grasslands and reservoirs to find the herds. Keep your camera ready for playful calves, majestic bulls, and exotic birdlife, such as painted storks and pelicans.

04:00 PM | Comfortable Return After a day of culture and wildlife, relax as we drop you back at your hotel, arriving in time for dinner.

Pick-up Locations: Dambulla, Sigiriya, Habarana, Kandalama.
