What you can expect

I am a private tour guide who specialises in taking walking tours of Melbourne’s CBD – or city, as we call it.

I utilise the services of the city's free trams during my tours.

I’m happy to take individuals, couples or groups.

I have a deep interest in all things Australian – history and politics, sport, music, literature and travel.

I grew up in Melbourne and I've lived here for most of my life.

My time away from Melbourne consisted of a decade in which I worked and travelled within Australia and overseas.

I was a journalist for many years — mainly as a sports writer, but I worked on desks throughout the newsroom. When newspapers declined, I became a tour guide.

I can tailor your tour to your needs. Possible attractions include:

  • Degraves Street and Centre Place (bustling yet intimate)

  • Block Arcade and Royal Arcade (ornate, 19th-century shopping centres)

• Chinatown (the oldest continuously existing Chinatown in the Western world)

  • Hosier Lane (the original street-art laneway)

  • Meyers Place (ground zero for the bar culture)

  • the Ian Potter Gallery (houses a major Australian collection of works, featuring the Bark Salon in the Aboriginal exhibition)

  • Curtin House (seven floors of style and fun)

  • the Shrine of Remembrance (superb war memorial)

  • Nicholas Building (built in the 1920s in a style championed by the Chicago school of architecture)

  • the Sports Precinct (including the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Rod Laver Arena).

Since Covid, the amount of foot traffic in Melbourne's CBD at night has come to exceed the level of foot traffic during the day.

The city is as much an entertainment district as a business district.

Melbourne is my city, and I love showcasing its charms.

Let me show you around.
