Day 1: Marrakech to Ouarzazate via Atlas Mountains
Our adventure begins in Marrakech as we depart towards Ouarzazate. We'll traverse the majestic Atlas Mountains, passing through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, offering stunning vistas at 2,260 metres (7,410 feet) above sea level. En route, we'll encounter charming Berber villages and captivating panoramas. Don't miss the chance to capture breathtaking photographs along the way. Upon descending from the mountains, we'll arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Prepare to explore the iconic Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site featured in numerous renowned films. Spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Ouarzazate.
Day 2: Ouarzazate to Merzouga via Todra Gorge
Rise early to witness the enchanting sunrise over Ouarzazate before heading towards Merzouga. Our journey will take us through the captivating Todra Gorge, famed for its towering cliffs and scenic landscapes. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the river, soaking in the natural beauty of this breathtaking canyon. Continuing our drive, we'll traverse the rugged terrain of the Dadès Valley, renowned for its impressive rock formations. Upon reaching Merzouga, prepare for an unforgettable camel trek into the Sahara Desert. Marvel at the sunset over the dunes before settling into our desert camp for a traditional Moroccan dinner and a night under the starlit sky.
Day 3: Merzouga to Fez via Midelt
Bid farewell to the Sahara as we depart Merzouga and journey towards Fez. Along the way, we'll stop in Midelt for lunch, renowned for its picturesque apple orchards. Traverse the scenic Ziz Valley, boasting lush palm groves and striking gorges. Our route will take us through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may encounter friendly Barbary macaque monkeys. Continuing onwards, we'll pause in the charming town of Ifrane, often likened to “Little Switzerland” for its European-inspired architecture and scenic charm. Finally, we'll arrive in Fez, concluding our unforgettable desert expedition.
