It was 2500 years ago in the jungles of southern Nepal that one of the world’s greatest spiritual teachers was born. Next to a beautiful pond surrounded by tigers and wild animals, his mother gave birth to what would become Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.

Lumbini is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors a year to its tranquil setting. Here at the Maya Devi Temple, one can actually see a footprint left by the infant Buddha upon his birth.
