We will meet at the indicated time in the Afonso de Albuquerque garden square and begin our tour of the Belém area, revealing the history of this nobleman who became the first Portuguese viceroy of the Indies. We will go to the most famous pastry shop in Lisbon so that, if you wish, you can buy Belém pastries.
Taking a short walk we will reach the Jerónimos Monastery, a majestic Manueline style temple. As we enter the monastery, we will tour its different rooms, prayer rooms and the cloister, one of the most beautiful in the world.
Bordering the Tagus estuary we will reach the Monument of the Discoverers, a large caravel-shaped construction that represents the starting point of the Portuguese ships that went to explore the New World.
A very short distance away we will find the emblematic Belém tower. With the help of the guide we will learn about the multiple functions of this World Heritage monument that served as a lighthouse, prison and tax collection centre.
Finally, we will contemplate the views of the Tagus River. A perfect end to this tour!
