What you can expect
Spend a fine day paddling across the pristine waters of Nagano's Lake Nojiri. With stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), you'll get a full workout, while still going at a leisurely pace, so you can take in the beautiful scenery surrounding the lake

Situated in Myoko-Togakushi Renzan National Park, Lake Nojiri is surrounded by lush, verdant greenery that lends a profound tranquility to the area. As such, it’s an ideal place to spend a cool morning or a warm afternoon — in fact, it's a favourite getaway for Tokyo’s expat community.
Learn to balance on a paddleboard and make your way across the sparkling Lake Nojiri. You can set out in the morning, when the lake is relatively calm, or in the afternoon, when the lake is breezier.
Beginners and experts alike will be assisted by a professional guide. During practice, you might fall into the water, but fear not — you’ll wear safety gear, including a life jacket, and a paddle leash around your ankle. You might not mind falling anyway, what with Lake Nojiri’s inviting, pristine waters.
Once you’ve got the hang of stand-up paddleboarding, you’ll feel like you’re walking on water. Faster than swimming and more versatile than kayaking, paddleboarding is not just a good — but not overly intense — workout; it's also a great way to sightsee. Paddle freely, and enjoy the stunning view: a vast lake surrounded by verdant trees, with peaks looming on the horizon.
