Experience the art of making matcha incense in a 1-hour workshop. Learn about the history of incense, watch a demonstration, and make your own incense to take home.
This is the world's first incense whose fragrance is made only from matcha green tea. The raw material, matcha, is made from matcha that accumulates in machines and filters during the manufacturing process and is not sold as food but discarded. It is a very eco-friendly incense.
Make your own matcha incense. Choose a shape from over 50 types of wooden moulds and create a beautiful incense. Its appearance is as beautiful as Japanese sweets. Take your incense home with you and enjoy the scent of matcha.
You will take home a special incense burner designed for the aroma of matcha. It can be folded so it is not bulky while travelling.
The matcha scent is only once, but when you are done, you can decorate them or place 5-6 of them together on a plate and soak them in your favourite aroma oil for repeated use as aroma stones. The reason this is possible is that the incense does not turn to ash when the fragrance has worn off, but retains its beautiful shape.
It is also a great souvenir from your trip to Japan.
The venue ”Eshin-in” is located in the centre of sightseeing in Uji, Kyoto. It is less than a 10-minute walk from Byodoin, a World Heritage Site. You can make incense in a quiet room while looking at the garden.
