This is a relaxing walk through a forest with gorgeous views over the Old Town. You’ll be carried away to an oasis of peace and quiet, you’ll intoxicate yourself with oxygen, and you’ll do something that your health will thank you for. The walk is not demanding, and it will be led by a tourist guide who is a nature enthusiast.
First, you’ll walk along the sea leaving the town behind. Then you’ll walk under the shade of pine trees leaving the asphalt behind. And lastly, you will not walk – you’ll just sit on a stone and chat, with the song of cicadas in the background.
In the forest, on a hill, you’ll be surprised by the Forteca tower, built at the beginning of the 19th century by the British. It was constructed on the model of the towers of Corsica. A little further on, you’ll discover Naplov, a clearing formerly used for collecting rainwater.
Pines, cypresses, holm oaks, carob trees, bay laurel, heathers, junipers, strawberry trees, rockrose, sage, rosemary, lavender… Can you recognise all of them?
On this walk you will bond with a pine forest and Mediterranean undergrowth. This vegetation makes a magnificent green backdrop, which may explain why the Greeks from Corfu named the island Black Corfu…
And now that you have walked here, you’ll never want to walk away.
