What you can expect

Begin your adventure at the Phulbari Gate, the entrance to the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Embark on a moderate trek through a lush forest to Jamacho Peak. The return is about 10 km, takes 4-6 hours of hike with rest and drive make 7 hrs in total , and includes a visit to the historic Jamacho Gumba (monastery).

Follow a mix of forest paths and stone steps, primarily an uphill and downhill trail following the same route. Walk through a dense forest of pine, rhododendron, and oak with bird songs and views from the summit. Keep an eye out for various species of mammals and birds.

Reach Jamacho Gumba, a site significant to local Buddhists and Hindus, with a history tied to the philosopher Nagarjuna. Enjoy scenic views of the Kathmandu Valley and the Himalayas, making it ideal for those seeking a mix of nature and spiritual culture close to the city.

At the top, savour a local meal, like selroti, chana, tarkari, and panipuri. Afterwards, make your way back to the starting point.
