Overview

  • Discover Kansas City after dark on a haunted pub crawl through the city’s historic city centre, where grand hotels, old theatres, society areas, and lively bars reveal a past filled with vice, scandal, tragedy, and restless spirits. This 21+ walking tour blends haunted history, true crime, and Kansas City nightlife into one unforgettable night out.

This is not the polite version of Kansas City history. This is the city behind closed doors: the city of saloons, hotel rooms, gambling halls, backroom deals, scandal, jazz-age nightlife, and stories that refused to stay buried. Perfect for date nights, friend groups, visitors, locals, sceptics, believers, and anyone looking for a grown-up ghost tour with a drink in hand.

All guests must be age 21+ with a valid I.D. Drinks not included with tour.

Activity itinerary

West 8th Street & Bank Street

  • 20m
Guests will begin near The Needle before moving into Quality Hill, one of Kansas City’s oldest and most historic city centre areas. Once home to the city’s wealthy elite, Quality Hill was built on money, ambition, social status, and the polished image Kansas City wanted the world to see. But beneath that respectability were darker stories of gambling, scandal, violence, and the ordinary workers history often forgot. Travellers will hear how this quiet area connects to Kansas City’s haunted past, including tales of lingering figures, old-house hauntings, and the troubled life of Sands Hopkins.

1005 Broadway Blvd

  • 20m
Travellers will stop outside the historic Coates House Hotel, a grand landmark tied to Kansas City’s rise as a major Midwest city. Once a symbol of elegance and ambition, the building later became the site of one of the city’s deadliest fires, when twenty people lost their lives in 1978. Guests will hear the chilling legend of the Ghost Bride, look towards the upper windows where strange figures are said to appear, and learn why this old hotel remains one of city centre Kansas City’s most haunted sites.

Folly Theater

  • 20m
Guests will see the exterior of the Folly Theatre, a historic Kansas City performance venue with a past as colourful as the city itself. Since opening in 1900, the theatre has hosted vaudeville, burlesque, music, comedy, and generations of performers and audiences. Its haunted reputation includes stories of longtime manager Joe Donegan, a mysterious well-dressed figure said to still watch over the theatre, along with reports of phantom applause, backstage footsteps, and a woman rushing towards the stage as if she never made her final cue.

200 W 12th St

  • 20m
Travellers will visit the historic Muehlebach Hotel, one of Kansas City’s grandest old hotels and a landmark tied to presidents, politicians, entertainers, brewers, musicians, and powerful guests. This stop explores the hotel’s public glamour and private secrets, from political deals and Jazz Age energy to haunted reports from workers and guests. Guests will hear about the mysterious Blue Lady, vanishing children, unexplained figures, and why some buildings seem to hold onto every secret whispered behind closed doors.
