What you can expect

  • Looking for something more personal than rafting, but without committing to a full kayaking course? This is the perfect way to experience the Yoshino River.

This kayak adventure is for travellers who want to feel more connected to the river. You are not just sitting in a boat while someone else controls the ride. You paddle, steer, splash, laugh, recover, try again and feel the river for yourself.

The experience is carried out in stable kayaks, making it ideal for beginners and first-time paddlers. These kayaks are easy to use, forgiving and designed to help you enjoy the river with confidence from the very beginning.

The experience starts in Oboke Gorge, where you receive the required river equipment and a clear safety briefing before heading to the water. Once at the river, the team explains the basics: how to paddle, how to turn, how to stay balanced and what to do in the moving water.

    Then the fun begins.

You paddle along one of the most beautiful sections of the Yoshino River, surrounded by emerald water, white rocks and mountain views. The route combines calmer parts where you can get comfortable with the kayak and playful rapids where the real fun starts. Expect splashes, small challenges, moments where you feel proud of yourself and probably a few laughs when things do not go perfectly.

This is not meant to feel like a strict sports lesson. It is an active, beginner-friendly river adventure for people who want to try something more personal than rafting but still feel safe and supported throughout the trip.

Along the way, there are stops for swimming, relaxing and photos. The best part is that photos are included, so you do not need to worry about taking your phone onto the river. Just focus on paddling, enjoying the Iya Valley and collecting the kind of memories that look as good as they felt.

The activity is suitable for friends, couples, solo travellers and active families who want one of the most memorable outdoor experiences in Iya Valley.

Come ready to get wet, laugh, paddle and leave with a storey.
