What you can expect
Making a pot on the potter’s wheel is one of those ‘I’ve always wanted to do’ activities. This fun session offers the opportunity to do just that! Perfect for individuals, couples and small groups wanting to get creative with clay.
A bit about us:
Eastnor Pottery & The Flying Potter was established by myself Jon Williams and wife Sarah in 1994. We met at art-school in the early 90's and graduated with BA Hons in Ceramics….and a burning ambition to make pottery! Our studio serves as a creative space where we produce not only individual pots and works of ceramic art, but share our passion and enthusiasm for clay with others. We have a combined experience of over 40 years working with adults, young people and children from our idyllic Herefordshire studio and in other community, educational and business settings all over the UK.
What we'll do:
For the time being, we're offering a dedicated class per booking. So if you are a couple or family, you'll have your own private class!
On arrival you'll be offered a warm (socially distanced!) welcome.
Following an easy to follow, five step potter's wheel demonstration, you'll each take a turn to throw one or two pots on the wheel. Needless to say, the activity makes for a fab spectator sport so you'll have great fun watching each other wrestling the spinning mud!
Your professional potter will be with you, at a safe distance for the whole of your experience, gently guiding you through the five easy steps to success.
The whole experience lasts 1.5 hrs (shorter for solo potters) and if you are fortunate enough to have produced x2 pots, you'll be asked to choose your favourite to be fired and glazed. (If you cant decide, the extra pot can be purchased at 1/2 price)
You wont be able to take your creation away on the day, it will need to dry thoroughly before it goes in the kiln. Your pot will be fired twice, glazed and available for collection from the Pottery approx. 4-6 weeks later. P+P can be arranged for a small fee per pot (UK)
