What you can expect

Day 1: Cusco - Piscacucho (Km 82) - Wayllabamba
We will pick you up from the meeting point in Cusco between 4 and 4:30 am.

  • breakfast in Ollantaytambo - private transport to take you to the first checkpoint of the route in Piscacucho – KM 82. Here you will need your original passport to enter the trail.

We will start the hike to Canabamba. We will continue for another 20 minutes to reach our lunch spot in Tarayoc.

This afternoon, you will continue walking for another 3 and a half hours to reach our first campsite in WAYLLABAMBA. You will have dinner around 7:30 pm and then go to sleep.

Day 2: Huayllabamba - Highest point of the Inca Trail - Pacaymayo
Before starting the hike we will have breakfast.

We will start the day by climbing uphill for 4 hours to the highest point of the trek, Dead Woman's Pass.

We will then descend for 1 hour and a half to the other side of the valley. After a delicious lunch, we will ascend for about 45 minutes to the Inca site of Runkurakay. Then, we will continue uphill for another 45 minutes to the summit at Runkurakay Pass.

Once we are back on foot, we will descend downhill for about an hour to the reddish-hued Vilcabamba mountain range.

From there, you only have 25 more minutes of hiking until you reach our campsite for the night at PACAYMAYO.

Day 3: Pacaymayo - Phuyupatamarka - Wiñaywayna
You will wake up at 6:30. You will enjoy a hearty breakfast and then hike for an hour and a half.

You will then begin to ascend towards the final summit of the route at Phuyupatamarca. You will then descend again for 2 and a half hours until you reach Intipata.

There is only another 30 minutes of hiking left until you reach our campsite for the night near the Wiñay Wayna archaeological site.

Day 4: Inti Punku - Machu Picchu - Cusco
You will need to wake up early today at 3:30 am to make sure you arrive early at the Sun Gate to see the sunrise.

Congratulations! You made it! You are finally inside Machu Picchu. Bow down to the sacred site that has patiently awaited your arrival and that will change something hidden within you. We have just one more hour of hiking left until we enter the site of Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. We will arrive at the last checkpoint around 8 am to begin our 2-hour guided tour.

You will then take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch at a restaurant of your choice and then board the train to Ollantaytambo or Poroy. Tickets are usually booked for 3:20pm or 4:22pm, depending on availability, and you must be at the station at least 30 minutes before departure. Once you arrive at your final train stop, one of our representatives will be waiting for you with private transport to take you back to Cusco.
