In the gentle rhythm of Hue, where life flows slower and softer, there are afternoons when all we long for is a peaceful pause. A pause to breathe, to return to ourselves, and to savour the beauty of simple rituals. This workshop is created as such a pause — an experience of brewing lotus tea and enjoying Hue traditional cakes.
Lotus tea has been cherished for generations in Vietnam as a calming drink that eases the mind, reduces restlessness, and brings clarity to the spirit. Brewing tea is not merely about pouring hot water — it is a mindful act, a way to be present with every small gesture. Accompanying the tea are delicate mung bean cakes, moulded into the shapes of familiar fruits like peaches, plums, guavas, and oranges. Their gentle sweetness perfectly balances the mellow bitterness of lotus tea, offering harmony in both taste and mood.
What you will experience in this workshop:
Introduction & Storytelling – Begin with the history and meaning of lotus tea, its role in culture, and how it supports inner peace.
Guided tea brewing – Learn step by step: warming the teapot, measuring tea leaves, pouring water with care, and watching the infusion slowly unfold.
Tasting ritual – Sip your freshly brewed tea while noticing its delicate fragrance, the transition from light bitterness to a subtle sweet aftertaste, and the calm it brings to your body.
Mung bean cake pairing – Taste handcrafted cakes in fruit shapes, while discovering how their flavours complement the purity of lotus tea.
Mindful Sharing – End the session with gentle conversation and reflection, connecting with others who share a love for mindful living.
This is more than a tea session. It is an invitation to slow down, to find serenity in simple acts, and to let a quiet ritual restore balance to your day. Whether you are new to tea or already familiar with its gentle traditions, this experience will give you something precious: a moment to just be.
Sometimes happiness lies in the smallest things: a warm cup of tea, a sweet little cake, and an afternoon in Hue filled with peace. We welcome you to join, and to let tranquility unfold — one sip, one bite, one breath at a time.
