01, during the first exploratory expedition to Lusitanian America, the Portuguese landed in Barra, negotiated with the Indians and installed their pattern of possession there. It was All Saints' Day and they named the great bay with that name.

Pelourinho

Pelourinho is closely linked to the foundation of Salvador and to the development of Brazil in the colonial era, it is the best known part of the Historic Centre of Salvador which, in addition to Pelourinho, also encompasses the region of Sé, Pilar and the area of Santo Antônio Além do Carmo.
