It’s a gentle, scenic start to the journey—offering both cultural insight and a sense of calm before entering the busier villages ahead.

Lao Chai Trail

Lao Chai is a larger Black H’mong village nestled in the heart of Muong Hoa Valley. As trekkers arrive, they’re greeted by sweeping views of layered rice terraces and daily village life. This is where the group pauses for a freshly prepared local lunch—often served at a family home or simple eatery, offering traditional flavours and a chance to rest. It’s a perfect moment to connect with the surroundings and reflect before continuing the journey towards Ta Van.

Ta Van Village

After trekking through terraced landscapes and river crossings, travellers reach Ta Van, a tranquil village home to the Giay ethnic group. Here, stilt houses line the valley floor, surrounded by lush fields and mountain backdrops.
