A paddling adventure by canoe or kayak on the River Stort Navigation.
Our trip starts at Sawbridgeworth where we will provide boats, paddles and buoyancy aids ready for your river tour.
We have a short carry of boats from our boat stores to the waters edge, where we will help set up the boats ready for paddling and give you safety and navigation guidance.
We will then set you off to explore the Hertfordshire countryside, paddling upstream to Tednamebury lock, working as a team to portage boats around the locks, which have been a traditional feature of the river since 1753. Experiencing the views of traditional watermills in the distance. We will then continue upstream to Spellbrook to visit to a traditional thatched country pub, just a riverside cafe a short walk from the river with the option to purchase yourself a snack, drink or refreshments and a have relaxing break or a visit to the pub or beer garden with a return trip back by boats on our 3.5 hour tour.
There is a requirement to be able carry launch and portage kayaks as well as lift and carry boats to and from the water and be able to paddle independently whilst on the journey.
Our kayaks are easy to paddle, single person kayaks with skegs to keep them going in a straight line and have hatches for taking a warm or cool drink or additional storage of small items.
We can also have traditional open canoes available, suitable for two paddlers.
