Located in Chun’an County, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, Qiandao Lake is a national 5A‑level scenic spot famous as “the finest water under heaven”. It is a man‑made reservoir formed for the Xin’anjiang Hydropower Station. More than 1,078 green islets scatter across the vast water surface. A golden belt runs along the shoreline of each island, which is a unique signature view of the lake. The water meets national Grade‑I standard all year round, clear and transparent with visibility up to 7‑8 metres. High forest coverage brings fresh air and a pleasant eco‑environment.

The main visiting zones are the Central Lake Area and the Southeast Lake Area. Sightseeing cruises are the standard way to tour the islands.
Central Lake Area (Classic Route)
Meifeng Island is the best viewpoint. From its observation platform you can overlook hundreds of islets spreading over the lake. Moonlight Island (Wulong Island) consists of five small islets connected by suspension bridges and floating walkways, ideal for photos and casual relaxation. Longshan Island preserves local culture with the Hai Rui Temple. Yule Island offers dining and water‑entertainment options.
Southeast Lake Area (Less‑crowded route)
From Huangshan Tip viewpoint, visitors may spot islets naturally forming the Chinese characters “Tian Xia Wei Gong”. Tianchi Island and Guihua Island are family‑friendly with stone landscapes and free‑ranging macaques.

Beyond island‑hopping by cruise, you can cycle or drive along the lakeside highway, watch sunset from Tianyu Mountain viewing platform, visit the 700‑year‑old Qinchuan Ancient Village, and try local specialities such as Qiandao Lake fish head soup. Misty mornings turn the lake into an ink‑wash painting, while golden sunsets glow over the water. Scenery changes with seasons.
