The Alamo

Meet Victor, your local storyteller, outside The Emily Morgan Hotel, across from the Alamo. Begin with overlooked stories of Alamo Plaza, including Hotel Gibbs, the historic federal building, the Woolworth Building, the Menger Hotel, Theodore Roosevelt’s Rough Riders, and the former Joske’s building. Your reserved timed-entry visit to the Alamo Church is arranged in advance. After exploring the interior, regroup with Victor to discover how Mission San Antonio de Valero became a military garrison and fortified compound connected to the Spanish presidio. How did the mission become known as the Alamo, and how did San Antonio receive its name? Meet the people behind the famous names. Hear how Joe witnessed Travis fall, what Susanna Dickinson endured with her young daughter, why Crockett’s final moments remain debated, and the dramatic storey of Robert Evans racing towards the powder magazine. Victor brings these stories to life while saving the most powerful details for the experience.

San Antonio River Walk

Descend from Alamo Plaza towards the River Walk, passing the former Joske’s building and St. Joseph Catholic Church, nearly surrounded by later development. Learn how the San Antonio River sustained the area’s earliest communities and how the creation of the River Walk later helped preserve, revitalise, and reshape city centre. Continue to the waterfall for a photo stop, then visit the statue of Saint Anthony of Padua as Victor shares how Spanish explorers named the river in 1691. Next, board your included narrated GO RIO cruise. From the water, see historic bridges, public art, hotels, the Lila Cockrell Theatre, and the Henry B. González Convention Centre while hearing how San Antonio grew from a mission settlement into a modern destination. After the cruise, continue past the Miguel Hidalgo monument on the way to the Tower of the Americas.

Tower of the Americas

Before ascending the Tower of the Americas, Victor shares stories many visitors never hear. Learn about the assassination of federal judge John H. Wood Jr., the case’s unexpected Hollywood connection, and local stories of Cold War intrigue. Then discover how Hemisfair ’68 reshaped San Antonio’s skyline, including the Hilton Palacio del Rio, completed in a record 202 days, and the Fairmount Hotel, moved about five blocks over six days to save it from demolition and later recognised by Guinness World Records. Your included admission takes you to the observation deck of the 750-foot Tower of the Americas for panoramic views across the city.

La Villita Historic Arts Village

Walk through La Villita, one of San Antonio’s oldest areas, with roots reaching back to the city’s early settlement near Mission San Antonio de Valero. Pause at the Arneson River Theatre, where Victor reveals its connection to Sandra Bullock’s Miss Congeniality and shares how San Antonio also served as a filming location for Spy Kids. Continue along the River Walk towards Marriage Island, where a sculpture commemorates the first Catholic Mass celebrated near the San Antonio River in 1691. Victor then connects that early Spanish arrival to the Canary Island families who established Villa de San Fernando around Main Plaza in 1731. Continue to San Fernando Cathedral, where San Antonio’s religious, civic, and cultural stories come together. Near the courthouse, pass La Mexicana, established in 1891 and one of Victor and Victor Jr.’s favourite stops. They spent over a year having breakfast here while writing and designing these tours, near the legacy of San Antonio’s Chilli Queens.

San Fernando De Bexar Cathedral

Arrive at Main Plaza beside the Canary Islanders Monument and San Fernando Cathedral, founded by 16 Canary Island families in 1731 and recognised as the oldest standing church building in Texas. Victor explains how the Cathedral became part of the Alamo storey, including the long-running debate over remains associated with several defenders. Learn how Spanish, Indigenous, Mexican, and Canary Island influences shaped San Antonio’s identity and civic centre. This final stop brings the city’s founding storey full circle. The tour ends near the Aztec Theatre and downtown’s restaurant district. Guests may continue exploring, or Victor can walk them back to the meeting point or a nearby city centre hotel when requested.
