Nairobi National Park lies 7 kilometres south of the city centre. It is the only national park in the world located within a capital city. You see wildlife against a backdrop of city skyscrapers. The park covers 117 square kilometres. Wildlife Rhinos: You find the world's densest population of black rhinos here. Predators: You see lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas. Herbivores: Giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos roam the plains. Birds: You spot over 400 different bird species. Exclusions: You will not find elephants in this park. Key Sites Ivory Burning Site: You visit the historic location where Kenya burns ivory to fight poaching. Nairobi Safari Walk: You walk on raised boardwalks to view animals safely. Animal Orphanage: You see rescued animals at the main gate. Logistics You access the park easily via Lang'ata Road. You need about 4 hours for a game drive. The park opens daily at 6:00 AM.
