It stands right on the Jiangdongmen site of mass executions and collective burial grounds of the Nanjing Massacre.
Several mass burial pits with human remains are preserved in the museum area, serving as the most direct physical evidence of the atrocities.
A total of more than 14,000 evidences are on display in the Historical Exhibition Hall, including nearly 4,000 historical photos, 9,992 cultural relics (sets), and 262 video materials.
