Visit the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, also known as the Chen Clan Academy, in Guangzhou's Liwan District. Built in 1893 during the Qing Dynasty, this shared ancestral shrine was funded by Chen clans from 72 counties across Guangdong Province. Today, it houses the Guangdong Folk Art Museum, a national-first-class museum, national key cultural relic protection unit, and AAAA-level tourist attraction, famed as “the Gem of Lingnan Architectural Art.”

Covering 15,000 square metres, the complex follows a classic Lingnan ancestral-hall layout with three rows and three courtyards. Its 19 buildings are linked by covered corridors with scattered courtyards. The site features superb wood, brick, and stone carvings, ceramic sculptures, lime moldings, metal castings, and colourful paintings. Ornaments on roofs, beams, and walls depict historical tales and folk auspicious motifs, fully representing exquisite Lingnan craftsmanship.
