What you can expect

  • Looking for something truly off the beaten track? This thrilling day trip to Selcka Waterfall in the remote Pogoni region is one of our guides’ personal favourites — and for good reason. This is not just a nature visit; it’s a true adventure into one of the most hidden and dramatic natural corners of southern Albania. Combine adrenaline, raw beauty, and authentic village charm in one unforgettable experience.
Departure from Gjirokastër: Begin your journey with a scenic drive to the Pogoni region, where the wild Suha River marks the starting point of your adventure.
Selcka Waterfall Hike & Rock-Climbing: Once at the riverbank, you’ll begin a 15-minute guided trek through shallow water and over rocks to reach the secluded Selcka Waterfall — named after the nearby village. This stunning cascade is hidden deep in the gorge and is accessible only to those comfortable with walking through water and scrambling over rocks. The water may be cold, but the chance to swim under the falls is too tempting to resist!
Important Note: This tour involves river walking and basic climbing over wet rocks. No climbing gear is required, but participants must be in good physical condition and have a good sense of balance.
Short Stop in Poliçan Village: After the waterfall visit, stop in Poliçan — a peaceful village at the foot of the Nemërçka Mountains near the Greek border. Enjoy the view from the main square, rest under the shade of an ancient plane tree, and breathe in the crisp mountain air.

Lunch & Visit in Stegopul: Before returning to Gjirokastër, stop in the village of Stegopul for a well-deserved lunch at a traditional guesthouse (optional, not included in the price). Discover some local hidden gems in the area before heading back.
    Why Choose This Trip:
Hidden Gem Experience: Visit a waterfall known only to locals and experienced climbers.
Raw Adventure: A mix of hiking, river walking, and natural swimming.
Local Villages: Explore remote communities and their traditions.
Guide-Recommended: One of our team’s absolute favourite tours.
