Embark the Giethoorn experience at the start of the centre which is located on the former horsepath to the village. The open boat tour with captain is a great relaxed option if you do not want to drive a boat your self or join the tourist boat with a lot of people. Driving through the main canal you pass under the multiple wooden arch bridges with on the side the small narrow footbridges. Along the canal are the 17th and 18th century thatched roofed houses which used to be farmhouses. Because of the narrow canal, it is a one way direction. After a short while over the lake part of the nature evironment Weerribben Wieden, you will enter the village again.
