What you can expect

Take in the striking mountains and western fells of the Lake District on this guided full-day adventure. Travel steep roads through the Hardknott and Wrynose Passes, see Wastwater Lake and historic Muncaster Castle's gardens.

Depart from Windermere, driving through the majestic Langdale Valley towards the mountain passes of Hardknott and Wrynose—2 of the steepest passes in England. Your winding journey up the harrowing road is rewarded with impeccable views of vibrant, multicolour landscapes rolling into the valley below. Capture photos before continuing to Wastwater, the deepest lake in England. The area features “Britain's Favourite View,” a vista that captures the lake surrounded by the sheer, rugged slopes of the Wastwater Screes. Take time to snap more pictures, and then visit Muncaster Castle. Marvel at the medieval architecture of the fortress, and then slow down to take in the view from the gardens, which were designed to take advantage of the castle's place over the distant fells. On the way back to Windermere, pass through the golden hills of Yewdale Valley as a picturesque end to your tour.
