Swim alongside the largest fish in the ocean in La Paz Bay, in the Gulf of California — one of the few places on earth where whale sharks return each season to feed in shallow, protected water. You depart from city centre La Paz on a small boat with a certified guide. The encounter takes place at the surface, with snorkel and life jacket, in short authorised turns. Your guide explains how to approach without crossing the animal's path. HOW THE FOUR HOURS BREAK DOWN About one hour to reach the feeding area, around two hours in the encounter zone with two to three water entries, and about one hour back. Each entry is short and guided; how many you get depends on the day and on the animals.
