Begin your day with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Siem Reap and embark on a long journey to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, visit Wat Phnom, a Buddhist temple and historical site that is part of the Khmer national identity. Learn about the storey of Lady Penh and the discovery of the five statues.
Next, visit the Royal Palace, where the current king of Cambodia resides. Admire the complex of buildings, constructed between 1866 and 1870, and learn about its history. After the Royal Palace, walk across the road to see Tonle Chaktomuk, the famous river confluence and waterfront area located directly in front of the Royal Palace.
Continue to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, a former secondary school used as Security Prison 21 by the Khmer Rouge regime. Discover the history of the Cambodian genocide and the stories of the estimated 20,000 people imprisoned at Tuol Sleng.
Finally, head to the Choeung Ek Killing Fields, a former orchard and mass grave of victims of the Khmer Rouge. See the Buddhist stupa, filled with more than 5,000 human skulls, and learn about the tragic history of the site.
After your tour, return to Siem Reap and get dropped off at your hotel.
