Begin your day with an early morning pickup from your hotel lobby and head to Angkor Wat to watch the sunrise. After sunrise, enjoy breakfast at your hotel or at a nearby restaurant.
After breakfast, return to Angkor Wat to continue exploring. Next, visit the temples on the Small Circle, including Ta Prohm, a temple with gigantic tree roots that have taken over, and where Hollywood made the film “Tomb Raider.”
After a busy morning, take a lunch break at a local restaurant nearby (not included in the price). After lunch, visit Banteay Kdei Temple, a sprawling 12th-century Buddhist monastery. While it shares architectural DNA with its famous neighbors, Ta Prohm and Preah Khan, it offers a distinctly tranquil, meditative atmosphere because it draws far fewer crowds.
Continue to Ta Nei and then visit the city of Angkor Thom, which covers the area of Bayon Temple. It's the highlight temple in the centre of Angkor Thom city with 49 towers, in which every tower has 4 faces, so that means there are 196 faces of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.
Then, continue walking to the next nearby Hindu Baphuon Temple built before Angkor Wat in the 11th century. Behind this temple, see a big Reclining Buddha that was built later in the 16th century. Continue walking to see Royal Enclosure Wall, Elephant Terrace, Leper King Terrace, and Phimeanakas.
Finish your day by climbing up the hill of Phnom Bakheng to see the sunset. Due to the limited number of tourists at the peak on Phnom Bakheng, you will need to climb up Phnom Bakheng a bit earlier, at least 1.5-2 hours before sunset. Conclude your tour by returning to your hotel between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
