What you can expect

Begin your tour at the Toshogu Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through intricately carved gates such as the Yomeimon, known as the “Gate of the Sun”, and explore fascinating details such as the famous “wise monkey” panels.

Next, head to Lake Chuzenji, located 1,269 metres above sea level. This volcanic lake is renowned for its serene beauty, especially in autumn when the maple leaves transform the landscape into a vibrant palette of colours. Enjoy a leisurely boat ride or explore Chuzenji Temple, a historic shrine that houses a statue of Kannon carved from a tree trunk.

Continue to Kegon Falls, one of the three most renowned waterfalls in Japan. Feast your senses on the thunderous roar of the waters as they cascade down a breathtaking landscape. There are observation platforms for stunning views and an lift that takes you closer to the base of the waterfall.

In winter, the frozen falls create a magical spectacle, while in summer and autumn the surrounding area bursts with life and colour.
