Start your day with a visit to Borjomi, a famous spa town known for its mineral waters and lush surroundings. Taste the water directly from public springs or tour the Borjomi Mineral Water Plant to learn about its production.

Next, continue to Rabati, the historic fortress complex located in the town of Akhaltsikhe. Explore the 12th-century fortress, a mosque, a synagogue, and a church, representing the religious diversity of the area throughout history.

The complex also features a museum that displays archaeological finds, historical artefacts, and exhibits related to the various civilisations that once occupied the region. Akhaltsikhe itself is a charming town with cobblestone streets and quaint cafes, where visitors can experience Georgian hospitality.

Finally, visit Vardzia, a remarkable cave city located in the southern part of Georgia. This ancient site was constructed in the 12th century during the reign of Queen Tamar and is considered one of the most impressive examples of medieval architecture in Georgia.

The cave complex consists of a network of interconnected caves, tunnels, churches, and living quarters carved into the cliffs of the mountain. The complex stretches over half a kilometre along the cliffside and was once home to hundreds of monks and residents.

At its height, Vardzia served as a religious, cultural, and military centre. The site includes numerous chambers, including a large church dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, which still contains frescoes and religious iconography from the medieval period.

Explore the caves, ascend to the watchtowers for panoramic views of the surrounding valley, and learn about the history and significance of the site through exhibits at the on-site museum.
