What you can expect

Day 1: Bromo Volcano
The adventure begins at Mount Bromo, located in East Java. An early morning start is crucial to catch the spectacular sunrise from the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan. Most trekkers start the day as early as 3:00 AM to witness the iconic sight of the sun rising over the Tengger caldera, illuminating the surrounding peaks, including Mount Semeru in the distance.

After soaking in the sunrise, the descent into the “Sea of Sand,” a vast plain of volcanic ash, begins. A short hike across this desolate landscape leads to the foot of Mount Bromo. From here, you ascend the 250 steps leading to the crater’s edge. The sight of the steaming crater and the smell of sulphur remind you of the volcano’s active state, adding to the thrill of the experience.

Once you’ve explored Mount Bromo, it’s time to leave this lunar-like landscape behind and begin the drive or transfer towards the next destination, Mount Ijen. Depending on the pace of the trek, many adventurers take a break in a local village or guesthouse along the way, immersing themselves in the rural Javanese culture, sampling local food, and resting for the next day’s challenge.

Day 2: Ijen Crater
The second day begins around midnight for the challenging but rewarding hike up to the Ijen crater. The climb takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, with the steep, rocky path winding through the forested lower slopes and then turning into a more barren landscape as you ascend. As you approach the summit, you’ll catch glimpses of the surreal blue flames at the bottom of the crater, a unique phenomenon caused by ignited sulfuric gases.

At the top, you are greeted with a breathtaking panorama of the turquoise sulphur lake, framed by jagged volcanic walls. The view is mesmerising, especially as the first light of dawn begins to reflect off the surface of the acid lake. Depending on the activity level of the volcano, trekkers may descend into the crater to get closer to the blue flames and sulphur miners, who manually extract sulphur from the crater floor.

After everything has been explored, you will return to the jeep, And dropp off to ketapang harbour
