Discover the Fontainebleau Castle and the beautiful village of Barbizon in just half a day, with all logistics taken care of.
Your tour starts at a central Paris meeting point, where you’ll meet your driver-guide and board a comfortable minivan limited to 8 travellers. Leaving the city, you’ll cross the southern suburbs and enter the vast Fontainebleau forest, a former royal hunting ground that still offers a breath of fresh air to Parisians today.
On arrival at Château de Fontainebleau, you’ll receive your entrance ticket and individual video-guide. Fontainebleau was one of the favourite residences of the French kings from François I to Napoléon III, each ruler leaving his mark on the building. As you walk through its courtyards, grand staircases and richly decorated rooms, your audio-guide will reveal how the château evolved over the centuries, mixing Italian and French styles and becoming a true showcase of royal power and taste.
During your visit, admire highlights such as the Renaissance galleries with painted and sculpted decoration, the royal apartments, Napoleon I’s throne room and the theatre restored under Napoleon III. Outside, take some time to stroll through the formal gardens and the vast park, where lakes, canals and long perspectives create spectacular views of the palace.
Back in the minivan, you’ll head towards Barbizon, a peaceful village at the edge of the forest. In the 19th century, painters such as Corot, Millet and Rosa Bonheur settled here to paint directly from nature, paving the way for Impressionism. Your guide will explain this artistic heritage while passing by.
After this last stop, relax on the drive back to Paris, arriving at the starting point with the feeling of having travelled far beyond the city in just a few hours.
