    Your experience begins at the Catania Cruise Terminal, where your driver will meet you for a comfortable journey towards the slopes of Mount Etna. As you climb through changing landscapes, enjoy spectacular views before reaching Rifugio Sapienza at approximately 2,000 metres (6,500 feet).

    Take your time to experience Etna’s distinctive volcanic scenery, characterised by ancient lava flows, black volcanic rock and dramatic crater landscapes.

    Once at Rifugio Sapienza, choose how you would like to spend your free time:

    • Explore independently: Walk around the famous Silvestri Craters and enjoy panoramic views stretching towards the Ionian coast.

    • Optional cable car and 4x4 experience: For a higher-altitude adventure, purchase a ticket for the Funivia dell’Etna cable car to approximately 2,500 metres. From there, specialised 4x4 vehicles or other available excursions can take you farther up the volcano, accompanied by authorised mountain guides.

    • Enjoy local specialities: Take a break at one of the mountain cafés, sample traditional Sicilian honey or browse for distinctive souvenirs inspired by Mount Etna’s volcanic heritage.

    After your visit to Mount Etna, return to Catania and enjoy approximately 1 hour of free walking through the city’s historic centre, a UNESCO-listed area renowned for its distinctive Baroque architecture built from local lava stone.

    Discover Piazza del Duomo and its famous Elephant Fountain, admire the impressive Catania Cathedral, and wander through the lively streets to experience the authentic atmosphere of this vibrant Sicilian city.
