There are only five Blue Zones in the world – geographical areas where people live longer than the global average, often exceeding 100 years of age in excellent health. Sardinia is one of these areas, and not by chance.
Here, amid pristine mountains, a slow pace of life, and a deep connection with nature, healthy eating habits, strong social relationships, and a work ethic rooted in the land and family have been passed down for generations. A genuine balance between body, mind, and the local area.
One of the iconic places associated with this extraordinary longevity is Seulo, a small mountain village in the heart of the island, known for having one of the highest numbers of centenarians in relation to its population. This is not just a statistical figure; it is the tangible expression of a simple way of life, rooted in tradition and community.
In Seulo, you can feel a history of resilience, sharing, and love for the land. That’s why experiencing Seulo isn’t just about going on a hike, but about embarking on a true journey of discovery, an immersion in the culture of a people who have made quality of life a daily philosophy.
Departure from Cagliari and arrival in Seulo
Your day begins as you depart from Cagliari and head towards Seulo. The first part of the experience is dedicated to exploring the historic centre, where you will walk among old stone houses and murals that recount the village’s history and the stories of its centenarians.
During the walk, we will come across the weaving workshop, where ancient looms and techniques passed down through generations are still used today, as well as artisan shops and panoramic views of the Gennargentu and Barbagia valleys, which offer an authentic and powerful glimpse of the region.
At the end of the morning, we will head to the shepherds' village with the “Pinnetti,” in the Pizzu Nusaunu – Arcu Museddu area. After a short walk, we will sit around traditional stone tables to enjoy “Su Murzu Antigu,” the traditional shepherd’s snack consisting of coffee and local sweets, complemented by other regional products and, of course, Sardinian wine.
Your experience concludes in the early afternoon, after a rich and authentic day spent slowly and with an open heart in one of the most captivating and authentic places in Sardinia, before you return to Cagliari.
