Morning departure from Belgrade towards Eastern Serbia. Arrive at the village Ram, located on a hill slope and a Danube bank. Visit the Ram Fortress, built in the late 15th century, on the steep rock above the Danube River. This Ottoman fortress had great significance in protecting the border between the two big empires. Enjoy the amazing view of the Danube River from the walls and the donjon tower and hear amazing stories about the history of the settlement, from Celts and Romans to the 19th century, when Ram was among the most important trading ports between Serbia and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Scenic drive along the Danube bank and Silver Lake. Flowing through ten countries, including ours, this second-longest river in Europe has long been a vital link between nations. Once the dividing line of the mighty Roman Empire, the Danube remains a significant route connecting the edges of the Old Continent. Known as the “old giant,” this river has been the birthplace of countless civilisations and cultures, with historical sites along Serbia’s banks serving as a testament to its enduring legacy.
Following the path of the mighty Danube, the next stop is the Golubac Fortress. Perched on towering cliffs at the river’s widest point, this medieval stronghold enchants visitors with its mystical towers and fairytale-like atmosphere. Climb to one of the fortress’s viewpoints and you’ll understand why locals claim the Danube resembles the sea from this vantage point. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views from one of Serbia’s best-preserved fortifications, located on the very entrance to the Đerdap Gorge and National Park. After the visit, lunch break at the local restaurant.
After a relaxing lunch, drive to the nearby distillery. Experience the authentic spirit of Serbia at the Pruna distillery, where premium fruit rakias are crafted from carefully selected fruit using a blend of traditional family expertise and modern technology. During the visit, you’ll explore the orchard and production facilities while learning about the distillation process. The experience concludes with a guided tasting of three distinctive rakias, each expressing the rich character and natural flavours of the region. Drive back to Belgrade.
