What you can expect

  • Begin your journey in Bangkok and travel to Ayutthaya by Japanese train (air conditioning). Upon arrival, hop on a tuk-tuk and head to Wat Mahathat, one of the most important and historic temples in Ayutthaya Historical Park. Built in the 14th century, the temple once served as the spiritual centre of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and was used for important royal ceremonies.

Admire the iconic Buddha head entwined within the roots of a banyan tree, one of Thailand's most famous landmarks. Explore the impressive ruins of ancient stupas, prangs, and Buddha statues that reflect the grandeur of the former Siamese capital.

Next, visit Wat Phra Si Sanphet, the most important temple in the ancient city of Ayutthaya. Built in the 15th century within the grounds of the Royal Palace, it served as the royal temple of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. See the three iconic bell-shaped chedis (stupas), which contain the ashes of Ayutthaya kings.

After Lunch break, cruise from the port to Wat Chaiwatthanaram, one of the most magnificent and historically significant temples in Ayutthaya. Built in 1630, the temple is known for its impressive Khmer-style architecture and its important role in the history of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

Admire the large central prang (tower) surrounded by eight smaller prangs, symbolising Mount Meru, the centre of the universe in Buddhist and Hindu cosmology. Finally, travel back to Bangkok by Thai train (air conditioning)
