Day 1: Arequipa - Chivay
After picking you up from the agreed meeting point (historic city centre), we will leave the city behind to enter the Colca Valley. For three hours we will cross the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve and make a stop at the Patapampa viewpoint, at 4,830 metres above sea level!
Between lagoons and bofedales we will reach our first destination: Chivay. This traditional town will welcome us at 3,600 metres above sea level. And in the afternoon, with our strength restored, we will visit the Calera thermal baths. We will be able to immerse ourselves in its waters and enjoy its well-known medicinal properties.
We will return to Chivay and there we will have the opportunity to experience an evening in the purest Colca Valley style. A dinner with dancing? While we taste the local flavours, we will be able to watch a typical dance show.
Day 2: Chivay - Maca - Yanque - Arequipa
We will enjoy breakfast at the hotel in Chivay and continue touring the Colca Valley. With the first light of the morning we will arrive at the emblematic Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor. There, for an hour, we will observe the flight of the condors and discover up close the crater of the Colca Canyon, which is one of the deepest in the world.
We will get back on the road, and during the trip back to Chivay we will make two stops. The first will be to explore Maca, a city declared a Historical Monument of Peru. The church will welcome us as the most important building, and the locals and their clothing will invite us to discover some of their traditions. In addition, we will visit Yanque, a town located in the heart of the Colca Valley.
We will return to Chivay so that you can eat on your own and we will say goodbye to the city to return to Arequipa. The excursion will end there at around 5:00 p.m.
