Embark on a 9-day tour of Ethiopia, visiting the country's most famous landmarks. Explore the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, the Blue Nile Falls, and the Simien National Park.
Day 1: Addis Ababa
Upon landing at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, be greeted and transferred to the hotel for the first night.
Day 2: Addis Ababa - Rock-Hewn Churches, Lalibela
Start the day with a hearty breakfast before taking a flight to Lalibela. Visit several sacred churches like Biete Medhane Alem, Biete Maryam, and Biete Meskel.
Day 3: Lalibela - Yemrehana Krestos - Rock-Hewn Churches, Lalibela
Start with breakfast before setting off towards Yemrehana Krestos. Visit Biete Gabriel-Rufael, Biete Merkorios, Biete Amanual, and Biete Abba Libanos. Then, visit the best-known of all the churches, Biete Giyorgis.
Day 4: Lalibela - Asheton St. Maryam Monastery - Lalibela
After breakfast, go on a 2-hour hike to arrive at the Asheton St. Maryam Monastery. Continue the hike for another 1.5 hours to reach the Hudad Lalibela Eco-Lodge for a breathtaking 360º panoramic view.
Day 5: Lalibela - Bahir Dar
After breakfast, hop in a car and leave Lalibela behind in exchange for Bahir Dar.
Day 6: Bahir Dar - Lake Tana - Ura Kidane Mehret - Blue Nile Falls
Finish breakfast and enjoy a boat ride through Lake Tana, bringing you to Ura Kidane Mihret Monastery. Then, visit the Blue Nile Falls. After return to Bahir Dar for a visit to the local market.
Day 7: Bahir Dar - Gondar
After a 3-hour car ride, arrive at Gonder. Explore the ruins and other notable structures like the Library of Emperor Yohannes I, the Emperor Bakaffa Salon, and the King's Wife's Palace.
Day 8: Gondar - Simien National Park
Arrive at Debark, a small city on the border of Simien National Park. Following a short pitstop, go south within the park to Sankaber, located 3,100 metres (10,170 feet) above sea level.
Day 9: Simien National Park- Gondar - Addis Ababa
On the last day, have breakfast and make your way to Gondar Airport to catch a flight back to Addis Ababa.
