What you can expect

The tour begins in Biarritz, a renowned imperial city famous for its surf culture. We will drive through the picturesque streets with beautiful palaces and villas, exploring the history of this ancient harbour that transformed into the preferred summer destination for European aristocracy in the mid-19th century. Step back to the 50s at the “Côte des Basques” beach, where the first European waves were surfed.

Continuing south along the stunning coastal landscapes, the tour leads to the authentic village of Guéthary, known for its 14th-century history of whale hunting. Dive into the whaling past, learning about its stories and activities. Stroll down the unchanged small dry-deck harbour to experience the spirit of Basque fishing culture.

A few kilometres away, we will explore the rebellious city of Saint Jean de Luz, famous for its pirate tales. Did you know that Louis XIV, “Le Roi Soleil,” got married in this authentic harbour? After an introduction to the city, follow your guide to discover the renowned “basque cake” in a local pastry!

Before returning to Biarritz, embark on a road trip along the Basque Corniche to unveil the mysteries of these breathtaking cliffs. Get introduced to our 18m local monster that awakens once a year: the Belharra wave!
