What you can expect

  • In the heart of the Carmine district, where the lights of Brescia's nightlife once shone, lies a fascinating and little-told storey: that of prostitution, from its Roman origins to the 20th century.

Among hidden alleys, secluded squares, and silent buildings, this itinerary reveals ancient brothels, forgotten municipal regulations, and the names and faces of women suspended between social marginalization and silent power, between sin and necessity.

A guided visit through period documents, curious anecdotes, and true events, which brings to light the most human, intimate, and sometimes tragic side of a district that has always been a crossroads of passages, passions, and secrets. A historical, social and human route that is both moving and surprising.

Places visited: Piazza Loggia, Via Gasparo da Salò, Corso Mameli, Pallata, Contrada San Giovanni, Via San Faustino
