Uncover a different side of Florence on this guided walking tour, where dark history, unusual legends, hidden traditions, and Tuscan tastes come together. Far from the city’s elegant façades and Renaissance charm, this experience reveals a more mysterious Florence, rich in secrets and unforgettable stories.

Strolling through historic streets and tucked-away corners, you’ll learn about Girolamo Savonarola, the radical preacher who turned Florence upside down with his fierce attacks on excess and corruption, before facing a tragic end himself.

As the tour unfolds, you’ll encounter tales of fanaticism, punishment, crime, and superstition. Behind Florence’s artistic beauty lies a troubled past filled with executions, fear, and unsettling events that have left their mark on the city for centuries.

Partway through the tour, you’ll stop at a local prosciutteria for a flavourful tasting break. Enjoy a glass of Tuscan wine paired with a selection of regional specialities, with vegetarian options available, and take in the unique atmosphere around you.

The journey then continues into Florence’s grimmer past, with stories of harsh justice, public suffering, and notorious crimes. You’ll discover how authority and intimidation shaped daily life, while exploring the city through the memories of its prisons, trials, and places of punishment.

Perfect for curious travellers looking to go beyond the usual sights, this experience offers a fascinating mix of history, storytelling, and local flavours in the heart of Florence.
