Istana Negara

Istana Negara is Malaysia’s National Palace. Its grounds are not open to the public, so the Main Palace Entrance is usually the spot where tourists take pictures. Istana Negara is bordered by a wall with the Malaysian coat of arms, featuring the Royal Insignia of His Majesty, placed on the steel bars between each fenced pillar. The cypress and casuarina-lined driveway leads to two entrances – the East Wing and West Wing.

National Monument

The Tugu Negara (National Monument) in Kuala Lumpur was built to commemorate the brave soldiers who died in various conflicts throughout Malaysia's history. The monument stands about 15 metres tall, with a bronze statue depicting seven soldiers, symbolising Malaysia's courageous spirit in resisting foreign invasions and internal conflicts. The monument specifically honours over 11,000 soldiers and civilians who died during the Second World War, the Japanese Occupation (1941-1945), and the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960). Thus, the monument's significance is not limited to World War I; it honours all those who sacrificed their lives for the country in multiple wars and struggles.

National Mosque (Masjid Negara)

The mosque was designed by UK architect Howard Ashley and Malaysian architects Hisham Albakri and Baharuddin Kassim.
