Your vessel waits at King's Staith Landing, not far from the York city centre, where you step on board to begin the cruise. Settle in and look out from the vessel's headed saloon, complete with broad viewing windows and an onboard bar, as you sail out under the evening light.

While the lengthening shadows and the rich glow of sunset colour the historic bridges and buildings along the riverbank, your captain shares some stories about York's famous history, from Roman conquest to Viking raiders and its rise as a trading hub in the late Middle Ages. You return to the landing early in the night, leaving plenty of time for younger passengers to get back to their rooms or for you to check out the city after dark.
