Overview

  • Experience two of Yucatán’s most distinctive natural attractions in one day: Río Lagartos and Las Coloradas. Explore the Río Lagartos Biosphere Reserve and look for flamingos, herons, ospreys, and other bird species that inhabit or visit this important wetland ecosystem.

Continue to Las Coloradas, known for its striking pink-colored salt lakes and long-standing salt production. Along the way, you can enjoy a natural sand exfoliation experience and visit a nearby beach to rinse off.

After exploring the reserve and salt flats, enjoy a local lunch in the town of Río Lagartos, with your choice of chicken or fish.

Wildlife, flamingos, pink salt lakes, a natural exfoliation experience, and local cuisine — all combined in one Yucatán adventure.

Activity itinerary

Las Coloradas

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Visit Las Coloradas, a unique coastal destination in Yucatán known for its striking pink-colored salt lakes. Explore the famous salt flats and learn about the salt production process that has taken place in the region for generations. As you explore the area, discover the natural environment surrounding the salt lakes and look for local wildlife, including flamingos and other bird species. The colour of the lakes creates a distinctive landscape and offers excellent opportunities for photography, especially under the bright Mexican sun. The experience combines Las Coloradas’ pink lakes, salt flats, local wildlife, and the natural landscapes of the Yucatán coast in one day.

Rio Lagartos

  • 2h 30m
Take a walk through the Río Lagartos Biosphere Reserve and explore its natural surroundings. Along the way, you may see flamingos, different bird species, and mangroves while enjoying time along the banks of the Río Lagartos. You’ll also have the opportunity to experience a traditional sand exfoliation bath, using the natural sand from the area. Afterwards, visit a nearby beach in Río Lagartos to wash off and enjoy some time by the water. Finally, head to the town of Río Lagartos to enjoy a local meal, with your choice of chicken or fish. Así queda mucho más limpio y no promete que necesariamente van a ver determinada cantidad de flamingos; dice “may see”, que es más correcto tratándose de fauna silvestre.
